In order to learn more about Anderson Hotel and Copenhagen, I asked Karen Nedergaard, General Manager at Andersen Hotel.

Karen, before start talking about Andersen Hotel, could you tell us about yourself? Who is Karen Nedergaard?

I am out of a hotel family and 3. generation running our hotels. I am passionate about hospitality and love my work. Very proud of our achievements especiall your Great Place to Work nominations. We were #3 in our category 2017.

Andersen Hotel is located in Vesterbro, Copenhagen. Could you briefly tell us about your location and its advantages for your guests?

Located in Vesterbro, Andersen Hotel is only 200 meters from Copenhagen Central Train Station, and within easy walking distance of ‘Strøget’, the world’s longest walking street. Vesterbro is a hip and vibrant neighbourhood next to the MeatpackingDistrict, one of the few authentic meatpacking districts, where skilled butchers worked for generations in the white, grey and brown buildings. Today the MeatpackingDistrict has been occupied by restaurants, cafés, and Galleries. A large open area, it’s well-known for its many restaurants with a high gastronomic standard, nightclubs, and small galleries. Vesterbro also boast sits own charming foodie street, Værnedamsvej - a gourmet’s paradise with artisan food shops, bars, restaurants, and cafés.

Could you tell us about the Andersen Hotel and the overall concept?

Our goal is to provide each guest with a memorable service – we want all our guests to leave happy and wanting to return. Molton Brown amenities, Concept24 (late Check-out no extra charge), Concept Green, Wine-Hour, OrganicBreakfast, free coffee all day, bike rental.

Andersen Hotel the boutique-style hotel that focuses on design. Could you tell us about your design concept?

Our 69 uniquely-decorated rooms and suites feature wallpaper, cushions, and curtains by the international brand Designers Guild. The interiors of all the rooms are bright, bold and young - feel free to choose from one of our three color schemes.

Andersen Hotel offers four different room types that smartly named. Could you tell us about your rooms and their features?

PRINCESS: A stunning combination of vibrant purple and striking fuchsia provides an elegant, yet warm atmosphere.

MERMAID: Complementary shades of vivid turquoise and lime reflect the soothing elements of Water.

EMPEROR: Calming blue and rich magenta add a touch of almost regal luxury.

Every morning you welcome your guests with an organic breakfast. One of your unique services is Wine Hour. Could you tell us the details?

The complimentary organic Breakfast Buffet is popular with Danish pastries, Herring, and an extensive organic tea menu.

Our daily Wine-Hour Social Hour is a with complimentary wine. It is very cozy ”HYGGE” and our guests enjoy the relaxing time with other guests, chess or reading in our international design magazines.

Our hotel bike rental is very popular in summer.

RUNNING - save 20% on your individual running tour with a private guide. In cooperation with Running Copenhagen, we can tailor a route to meet your needs.

HOT BIKRAM – We offer Bikram yoga classes in a neighbourhood Studio Vesterbro. Ask at reception and we’ll make a booking for you. We offer towels, water, and a yoga mat.

What can your guests do when they step out of the Andersen Hotel and step into the streets of Copenhagen?

Vesterbro is a fun and vibrant neighbourhood. Visit the MeatpackingDistrict, ”Reffen” Street Food Market or beautiful Castle Rosenborg. Or take the train to Louisiana Museum og Modern Art.
