Supercars, formerly called exotic cars, are street-legal, fast-accelerating, high-speed, and eye-catching high-end sports cars. Supercars are the pinnacle of engineering and design, and a symbol of excellence for car enthusiasts. Supercars perform far beyond sports cars and are in a different class. For many of us, owning a supercar is a dream.
In recent years, the concept of hypercar has emerged, and in fact, these two definitions are somewhat confused. Best supercar brands have added cars with million-dollar and higher price tags to their product lines. And also, new brands have entered the market that are focused solely on developing hypercars. And these hypercars reach unimaginable top speeds and push the boundaries of luxury. Now, hypercars are at the top in terms of performance, design, and price. While owning a supercar is a dream, even seeing a hypercar on the road is more than a dream.
But the charm of supercars has never waned. When you visualize the Lamborghini Miura, which was started to be produced in 1966 and is generally accepted as the first supercar, we understand how much progress has been made. In the supercar market, which used to be dominated by only a few elite brands, many supercar brands are now competing. Electric supercars, designed after the development of electric car technology to provide super performance, managed to change the rules of the game.
Some of the world's top supercar brands produce so few cars that they don't need giant factories. Some boutique supercar brands, which have managed to find a place for themselves in the competition of iconic brands, add color to the competition. We read news that brand-new performance records are broken every new day. Especially, the acceleration capacity of electric cars added a whole new dimension to the race.
I have selected some of the best supercar brands that have made this development possible with their research and development work, and I have listed them for you. I have tried to draw a line between the supercar and the concept of sports car and hypercar whenever possible, but I am aware that there are also brands on the list that cross this line with sports cars and hypercars. Let's take a look at the best supercar brands that design and manufacture supercars that dazzle with their unique designs and performance.
There are many sports car brands, but supercar brands are very exclusive. Bugatti is one of the brands that has a share in the creation of the supercar concept. One of the best supercar brands, Bugatti is, according to some, the creator of the hypercar class. The foundations of Bugatti were laid by Ettore Bugatti in 1909 in the then-German city of Molsheim. Bugatti started to take its place on the tracks with the Type 10 and its successor models. The iconic Type 35 Grand Prix racing car, which started production in 1924, became synonymous with the Bugatti brand and became one of the most successful racing cars in history. Bugatti was the brand that won the first Monaco Grand Prix in 1929. In the next two years, Bugatti crossed the finish line in first place in this race.
Bugatti, which has race car production knowledge, has transferred this knowledge to road cars, namely sports cars, over the years. However, the iconic brand, which had to take a break from its activities after the 1950s due to financial problems, returned to the road with the acquisition of the Bugatti brand by Italian entrepreneur Romano Artioli. The Bugatti EB110 was the Bugatti model that marked this period. Bugatti, one of the best supercar brands, gained its current identity after being acquired by Volkswagen Group in 1998. Bugatti, which has become the brand that sets the bar for competition in the supercar industry with its Veyron and Chiron models, produces masterpieces as one of the best supercar brands.
