Caterpillar is developing new construction machinery for a lower-carbon future that will allow customers to replace construction machinery in their portfolios with battery electric machinery. Adding four new electrical machines to its construction machinery portfolio for this purpose, Caterpillar will exhibit these next generation machines at the bauma 2022 trade fair, which will be held in Munich, Germany, from 24 to 30 October 2022.
Caterpillar plans to contribute to the global energy transformation process with electrical construction machinery, which it has developed taking into account the needs of customers in the field. Among the newly developed battery electric machine prototypes are the 301.9 mini excavator, 320 medium excavator, 950 GC medium wheel loader and 906 compact wheel loader.
These new machines will be powered by the battery prototype developed by Caterpillar and will have onboard AC chargers, and offboard DC fast charging will also be available as an option. The Caterpillar-designed batteries have a flexible configuration and a design suitable for use in different industrial purposes. The 301.9 mini excavator and 906 compact wheel loader are the first two of these four prototypes planned to be commercially available.
