The MotoGP Q2 session, held at the Mobility Resort Motegi circuit under heavy rain, started after a 90-minute delay. Marc Marquez, who won the last pole position at the 2019 Japanese GP, managed to win the pole position at the Motul Grand Prix of Japan with a lap time of 1:55.214.
Repsol Honda Team rider Marc Marquez, who ran his first race in Gran Premio Animoca Brands de Aragón last week after injury, ended his longing for pole position a week later and earned the right to start the race from the first place.
Prima Pramac Racing rider Johann Zarco took second place in qualifying, while Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider Brad Binder was third. Championship leader Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP rider Fabio Quartararo will start the race from ninth place.
